WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- Following a 4-3 record on the West Coast, the Big Green were looking to continue momentum in the Ivy League opening series at Yale. Dartmouth did just that, splitting the day with Yale and winning the second game.
With the split today, the Big Green move to 5-9 on the season and 1-1 in Ivy League play.
GAME 1 | Yale 6, Dartmouth 2
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Big Green got out to an early lead when Kolton Freeman knocked his third home run of the season, this one a two-run shot to give the Big Green the lead in the first inning. Despite the early lead, the Bulldogs bounced back and capitalized on Big Green defensive errors to win the first game, 6-2.
Marco Dumsky made his third start of the season, striking out eight Yale hitters over 5.1 innings of work. Shane Bauer tossed the final 2.2 innings in relief, allowing only one run on three hits.

The Big Green got out to as a hot a start in the second game as they did in the first, adding one run in the first inning when Nathan Cmeyla singled to score Freeman. They would add a run in the second inning, doubling their lead when Jackson Hower scored on a wild pitch.
While the Big Green only scored two runs, it proved enough to defeat the Bulldogs, 2-1. Yale scored their lone run in the fifth, and despite pressuring in the seventh inning, were not able to push any more runs across the plate.
Devin Milberg started on the mound for Dartmouth, striking out three and dealing four walks in four innings of work. Drew Koenen and Jack Metzger combined for five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and striking out two batters.Â
