Baseball Scores Three Unanswered Runs to Defeat Yale, Win Series

WEST HAVEN, Conn. --The Dartmouth Big Green rallied from down 1-0 in the sixth inning to beat the Yale Bulldogs 3-1 Sunday.
With the win, the Big Green move to 6-9 on the year and 2-1 in Ivy League play, tying their Ivy League win total from last year. The win also secured Head Coach Bob Whalen's 635 career win at Dartmouth, making him the winningest baseball coach in the Ivy League.
The Big Green were trailing 1-0 in the seventh inning when they pushed two runs across home plate to take the lead. Nathan Cmeyla led off the inning with a single, and was then joined on the bases by Ethan Brown who drew a walk. Dartmouth then loaded the bases on an error before Jackson Hower hit a two-run single.
Hower continued his productivity in the ninth inning, leading off the inning with a single. He later came in to score when Taer Rodriguez bounced into a fielder's choice to provide insurance runs for the Big Green.
Eddie Albert started on the mound for the Big Green, throwing 5.1 innings and giving up only one run on four hits. Albert also struck out five batters. Danny Will and Jack Metzger combined for the final 3.2 innings in relief, allowing only two hits.
The Big Green will return to action next weekend when they face Cornell in their second Ivy League series of the season.Â
