CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the first time in 20 years, Dartmouth women's soccer earned a 1-0 victory against Harvard at Jordan Field. This also marks its first win over the Crimson since 2018, when it won a 3-1 match at Burnham Field.
I'm so proud of our team's performance tonight. From the opening whistle, they showed heart, determination, and never let up. It was a hard-fought road win and a great way to kick off league play. Defensively, we stayed committed and executed the game plan to earn the shutout, Taylor Schram, the Stacy Branca '94 Head Coach of Women's Soccer, said.
With the win, Dartmouth improves its season record to 4-2-2 (1-0 Ivy League).
In the 75th minute, Junior defender Kate Ryan (Dallas, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Dallas) found herself surrounded by the cheers of her teammates and coaches after putting the Big Green on top with her first collegiate goal, assisted by Stephanie Lathrop (Dayton, Md./Glenelg High School).
The Ivy League rivals were tied 2-2 in shots on goal, while Harvard outshot Dartmouth 13-6. Ola Goebel made her second career start, collecting two saves and her second clean sheet.
The Dartmouth crowd that showed up for us was unbelievable, and we're so grateful for their support. Our bench energy was off the charts, and it truly felt like an all-in team effort. I couldn't be prouder, and we're excited to get back to work this week as we turn our focus to Penn.
The Big Green will continue Ivy League play in Philadelphia next Saturday when facing Penn at 1 p.m.
