HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Junior goalkeeper Ola Goebel shone in Dartmouth's scoreless tie over Hofstra on Sunday, recording a clean sheet and three saves in her collegiate goalie debut.
The match, which was the pair's second all-time meeting, was a defensive battle through the full 90 minutes. The Big Green and the Pride were even in shots with nine, while Hofstra had a 3-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Dartmouth had an opportunity to put itself on the board in the first 10 minutes of play when Stephanie Lathrop attempted to find the back of the net, but Hofstra's goalkeeper Lilly Bailey made her first save of the game.
In the 36th minute, Hailey Rorick attempted to find the back of the neck from just outside the box, but was denied by Bailey. In the second half, Goebel recorded her third save of the afternoon when Hofstra's Olivia Pearse tried to give the Pride the lead.
The Big Green will open conference play next Saturday when they travel to Cambridge, Mass., to face Harvard at 7 p.m.
