HANOVER, N.H. – On the seventh weekend of the fall season, the Big Green competed at three regattas, placing in the top ten at each race.
The Big Green's main event was the Open Atlantic Coast Championship hosted by Navy. 18 of Dartmouth's 28 races across the two divisions were in the top ten as the Big Green posted 141 A Division points and 99 B Division points for a combined 240, good for eighth overall.
Dartmouth started with a fourth place finishing position in its first A Division race. A 16th place finish dropped the Big Green to seventh, before Dartmouth started an upward climb to as a high as fourth. Its next eight races were all in the top ten finishes, highlighted by a second place finishing position and a third place finishing position in the fourth and fifth B Division races.
Over the next six races, Dartmouth posted just two top ten finishes, eighth in the seventh B Division race and fourth in the eighth A Division race, before being disqualified in the ninth A Division race.
The Big Green wrapped the regatta with seven top ten finishing positions over the final 11 races. The B Division's best finishes were second in both their tenth and 11th races, while the A Division's best finish was eighth in their 14th race.
Dartmouth also competed at the Oberg Trophy hosted by Northeastern, finishing 11th. The Big Green scored 29 A Division points, the fourth best score, 48 B Division points, and 53 C Division points.
The A Division and C Division started the day with finishes outside the top ten, but a first place finish by the A Division in their second race and a second-place finish by the B Division jumped the Big green back to middle of the pack.
Half of the remaining races across the three divisions were in the top five, including another second-place finish in the fifth A Division race, helping Dartmouth to 11th place.
The Big Green wrapped competition on the seventh weekend of the fall season at the Yale Women's Interconference regatta, posting 116 total points to finish second. The A Division scored 59 total points for the second best score, while the B Division posted 57 total points.
Dartmouth got out to a slow start, sitting in 12th place through four races. A fifth place finish by the A Division to kick off the third set of races started the Big Green on a steady climb to second place.
Over the next 18 races, the Big Green posted only one finish outside the top ten, earning 12th in the seventh A Division race. 14 of those 18 races were top five finishes. Dartmouth's comeback was highlighted by five first place finishing positions, including three straight from the eighth B Division race to the ninth B Division race. The Big Green also capped the regatta with two more first place finishing positions in the 11th set of races.
Through 22 races, the Big Green and Stanford Cardinals were tied with 116 points apiece, but Dartmouth posted more first place finishes, five to the Cardinals three, to earn second place.
Dartmouth will wrap the fall season next weekend, competing in three regattas, the Schell Trophy hosted by MIT, the Urn Trophy hosted by Harvard, and the Nickerson Trophy hosted by Tufts.
