HAMILTON, N.Y.—The Dartmouth field hockey team closed out non-conference play on Sunday afternoon as the Big Green defeated Colgate 2-1 in overtime.
12:09 into the first quarter, the Big Green got on the board as Katherina Cohen scored her first career goal. The sophomore took a pass from Olivia Gailotos and roofed a shot into the top corner of the cage for her first goal.
The Big Green outshot the Raiders 6-0 in the opening 15 minutes with three of the shots finding the cage. Both teams earned one penalty corner in the opening stanza.
Colgate outshot the Big Green 5-0 in the second quarter but did not find the back of the cage as Ava Carlson turned away all three shots on a goal. Colgate earned a pair of penalty corners but could not convert.
The third quarter was a back and forth frame that saw just five shots with Colgate edging out the Big Green 3-2. Both teams had one shot on goal in the frame but were turned away. The Raiders had a pair of penalty corners in the frame.
With just over four minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Raiders tied the game following an extended video review. Neither team broke the late tie and the game headed to overtime.
In the fourth quarter shots were even while Carlson made three saves on four shots.
5:36 into the first overtime session, Riley Dumigan beat her defenders and fired the ball into a wide open net after she dodged a sliding attempt from the netminder. It was Dumigan's first goal of 2025 and her fifth career goal.
Dartmouth finished the game with 13 shots, nine of which were on goal. The trio of Dumigan, Georgia Thornton, and Ella Bowman each had two shots on goal while Amelie Luessmann, Cohen, and Zoe Schaffer each had one shot on goal. Carlson made six saves in the win.
The Big Green close out the 2025 season on Saturday, Nov. 1 as Brown travels to Hanover. The Big Green and Bears square off at 1 PM, following the game, Dartmouth will honor its senior class.
