ITHACA, N.Y.—Dartmouth field hockey fell to Cornell on Friday afternoon by a score of 5-1.

The first quarter did not see a goal until there was 30 seconds left in the opening quarter. Cornell took a 1-0 lead to close out the first quarter.

Ava Carlson saw seven Cornell shots in the first quarter and turned away four shots to start the game.

10:26 into the second quarter, the Big Red made it a 2-0 game and just over a minute later they made it a 3-0 lead.

Dartmouth had a pair of shots on goal in the second quarter but could not convert while also having three penalty corners. Carlson made two saves in the frame for the Big Green and had six saves at halftime.

2:27 into the third quarter, Cornell took a 4-0 lead on a penalty corner.

Carlson made two saves in the third quarter as the Big Red outshot Dartmouth 4-1. Each team had a pair of penalty corners in the frame.

1:18 into the fourth quarter, the Big Green were awarded a penalty stroke. Ella Bowman stepped to the spot and buried her team leading fifth goal of the season to get the Big Green on the board.

The Big Green comeback came to a halt as Cornell scored with 9:10 left in regulation to make it a 5-1 game.

Carlson made eight saves in the loss while the Big Green tallied seven shots, five of which found the goal.

Dartmouth notched six penalty corners in the fourth quarter and finished the game with 11.

Bowman had a team high four shots with three being on goal, Olivia Galiotos had two shots, one on goal. Zoe Schaffer added a shot on goal for the Big Green.

The Big Green close non-conference play on Sunday, Oct. 26 against Colgate in the final road game of the 2025 season.
