HANOVER, N.H.—Chase Decker and Phoebe Lee of Dartmouth sailing and Nadia Young of women's soccer have been named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes – one male athlete or team, one female athlete or team– as Athletes of the Week.
Chase Decker, So. Newport Beach, Calif., Open and Women's Sailing
Phoebe Lee, Sr., Edgewood, R.I., Open and Women's Sailing
This past weekend, Decker and Lee represented the Big Green in the A Division of the first round of the Open Atlantic Coast Championship. The pair posted 39 total points, the third best score, to help the Big Green to third overall and a qualification to the Open Atlantic Coast Championship in two weeks. With limited wind, they were only able to sail seven races, finishing in the top ten in each one. Their best finish was third in both the third and fourth A Division race, sailing conservatively and consistently to lead the Big Green to third.
Nadia Young, First-year, Oakland, Calif., Women's Soccer
Nadia Young made two assists in a dominant 6-0 midweek victory over Brandeis and scored the game-deciding goal during Dartmouth's home Ivy League opener against Columbia. Young's goal, which was the first of her career, came off a perfectly executed cross from junior Frankie Valverde, allowing Dartmouth to get its first win over Columbia since 2014, and its first win against the Lions at Burnham Field since 2013.
