MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Singles victories from
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez,
Miles Groom and
Alex Knox-Jones were not enough on Thursday afternoon for the Dartmouth men's tennis team, who dropped a 4-3 decision to Alabama State in their first match in nearly two weeks.
Â
The Hornets came away with doubles wins on Courts 1 and 3, and did just enough in singles to hold off the Big Green. Groom, playing at the No. 3 position, improved his record to a team-best 10-1, and Knox-Jones was able to pick up his third straight win with his victory on Court 5. Guerrero Alvarez emerged a winner from a super tiebreak at the No. 2 position.
Â
The Big Green are back in action on Friday, March 15 with a trip to Jacksonville State. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
