Men's Tennis Travels To Penn for ITA Ivy Tournament

PHILADELPHIA – The Dartmouth men's tennis team participated in the ITA Ivy Individuals Tournament hosted by Penn this past weekend, earning several hard-fought victories across both singles and doubles play.
On day one, the Big Green collected three singles wins. Senior Henry Ren outlasted Cornell's Noah Eisenberg, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, while sophomore Denny Bao secured a straight-set victory over Petar Teodorovic of Cornell, 6-3, 6-4. First-year Kornel Halmos also claimed a three-set win, defeating Brown's Lukas Phimvongsa, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
Dartmouth found success in doubles play, with two teams earning victories. Bao and Halmos paired for an 8-5 win over Brown's Phimvongsa and Hernandez, while Ren and senior Miles Groom recorded a win against Princeton's Markovitz and Bigun. Leo Pade and Treacy fell to Khoshla/Semthil Kumar of Cornell.
The Big Green continued competition the next day, where Ren fell to Columbia's Michael Zheng, while Bao was defeated by Penn's Nischal Spurling. Halmos pushed his opponent, Shaurya Bharadwaj of Penn, to three sets but ultimately fell. In doubles play, Groom and Ren opened the day with an 8-1 victory over teammates Bao and Halmos before falling to Harvard's Perera and Murali, 8-4.
Sophomore Leo Pade and first-year Adrian Treacy both participated in consolation action, with Pade falling to Princeton's Aleksandar Mitric and Treacy retiring from his match against Penn's Stephan Gershfield.
The Big Green will return home for their final home invite of the fall season from Friday, Oct. 31 - Sunday, Nov. 2.
