Jared Gerbino ’20 and Matt Kaskey ’19 comment on this classic contest

HANOVER, N.H. — The Woods Watch Party lands for week six with the broadcast of the Dartmouth football game against Princeton at Memorial Field in 2017. The stream on the Dartmouth Football YouTube channel will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 1:30 p.m. and is sponsored by Casella.
This was the 38th consecutive year the two teams clashed in the season finale, and as it turned out, the last as well with the Ivy League rearranging the traditional schedule the following year. Not only was the annual battle for the Governor's Trophy and Sawhorse Dollar on the line, but the Big Green still had a chance of earning a share of the conference crown, needing a win over the Tigers and Harvard to beat a Yale squad that had suffered its lone loss against Dartmouth. To keep their title hopes alive, the Big Green would have to find a way to slow down a Princeton offense that led the league in scoring at nearly 40 points a game.
The Big Green came into the game with a 7-2 overall record, 4-2 in the Ancient Eight, and had won its previous two contests. And although Princeton was just 2-4 in the league, those four losses were by a combined total of 12 points (Dartmouth's two defeats were by only eight points). The offense featured a balanced attack with over 1,400 yards on the ground and 1,900 through the air, while the defense was formidable and deep with 11 different players recording a sack and nine picking off at least one pass.
Two of the stars from the offense will join host Tyler Murray this week to talk about the game — quarterback Jared Gerbino '20 and offensive lineman Matt Kaskey '19. Gerbino currently is pursuing his dream of playing in the NFL, a dream that was postponed due to the pandemic, while Kaskey is a step away from an NFL sideline, serving on the practice squad for the Carolina Panthers. In addition, offensive coordinator Kevin Daft and defensive coordinator Don Dobes — who coached at Princeton for 16 years before coming to Dartmouth in 2010 — will join the broadcast chatter.
