FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Dartmouth men's lacrosse defeated Fairfield on Tuesday night by a score of 16-10 for their fourth win of the season.
It was Fairfield who opened the scoring as the Stags scored three goals in the first 4:11 of the frame. Thomas Power got the Big Green on the board at the 8:46 mark. Tyler Juhlin and Alex Jessey scored in the first quarter for the Big Green, but it was Fairfield that held a 5-3 lead after 15 minutes.
Dartmouth continued to claw back in the second quarter as they outscored the Stags 4-3 in the frame. After Fairfield scored the first goal in the quarter, the Big Green scored four straight. Power scored twice while Mitchell Monte and Nick Moore each scored once, Moore's goal gave the Big Green the lead with 4:20 left in the half. The Stags tied the game at the 3:43 mark and took the lead with nine seconds left in the frame.
The Big Green took the lead in the third quarter and never looked back. Both teams scored twice in the first six minutes of the third quarter as Stahl and Stu Gates scored for the Big Green. At the 2:12 mark Jackson Monte tied the game at 10 and Power gave the Big Green the lead with six seconds left in the third quarter.
Dartmouth dominated the fourth quarter as the Big Green outscored the Stags 5-0. Power tallied three of the five goals in the frame while Jessey and Emmett Paradine each scored once to close out the game.
Power tallied seven goals and one assist for eight points in the game. He tallied his 100th career goal in the game and now has 104 career goals and 178 points.
M. Monte tallied a goal and two assists while Jessey added a pair of goals and an assist. Nine different players scored for the Big Green while 10 players had a point.
Max Becker made eight saves in net for the Big Green, in his first six NCAA games he has made 69 saves and has a 4-2 record.
Dartmouth outshot Fairfield 42-32 in shot attempts and 22-19 in shots on goal.
The Big Green have the next nine days off before taking on Harvard in their Ivy League opener on Mar. 20 at 7 PM.
