ANNAPOLIS, Md. – On Saturday, Dartmouth women's rugby traveled to Maryland for the first matchup in program history against the Navy Midshipmen. The Big Green scored often, defeating Navy 52-7.
With the win, the Big Green move to 2-0 overall as well as against NIRA opponents.
Dartmouth scored 19 points in the first half, opening with a try from
Katelyn Walker and a conversion from
Annie Henrich to make it a 7-0 game. Henrich would score a try of her own to make it 12-0 before
Paola Arredondo Almeida and Henrich scored a try and conversion to extend Dartmouth's lead to 19-0.
Navy was able to respond and get on the board before the first half ended, making it a 19-7 game in favor of the Big Green.
Cindy Taulava opened the scoring in the second half with a try for the Big Green.
Hehea Pulotu then made her first conversion to give Dartmouth a 26-7 lead.
Jordynn LeBeau also got on the board, scoring her first try of the season to extend Dartmouth's lead to 24 points.
Marley Larkin, who shined in her Big Green debut last week, got on the board later with a try, before
Arielle Fotso scored her first career points with the Big Green on a successful conversion.
Arredondo Almeida and
Sierra Santiago scored the final two tries of the day while Fotso made two more conversions as the Big Green cruised to a 52-7 win over Navy.
Dartmouth will return to action next weekend for its second of three straight road games against NIRA opponent and Ivy League foe Princeton. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
