IRVINE, Calif.—Dartmouth men's tennis lost a nail-biting match to UC Irvine on Saturday afternoon. The Big Green fell 4-3 to the Anteaters.

Doubles

The duo of Miles Groom and Henry Ren opened the match with a win in second doubles for the Big Green. The duo notched their first doubles win together with a 6-2 win to open the day.

Denny Bao and Alex Knox-Jones secured the doubles point for the Big Green with their second doubles win of the season. The duo won 6-3 to take the doubles point for the Big Green.

Singles

Groom notched his second win of the day in fourth singles. He was the first member of the Big Green to notch a singles win. He won the first set 7-6 before securing his 10^th win of the season with a 6-1 second set win.

Knox-Jones also moved to 2-0 on the day in a three set sixth singles match. He fell 6-4 in the opening set of the match. He responded with a 6-3 win in the second set and 7-6 win in the tiebreaking set.

Hikaru Takeda played second singles on Saturday. He fell 6-0, 6-1 in the first singles match to conclude.

Ren was edged out in third singles as he dropped both sets 6-4.

Carlos Guerrero Alvarez played a back and forth first singles match. He won the opening set 7-5 to take an early lead. The second set went the way of his opponent 6-4. The third set was another close set but Guerrero Alvarez fell 7-5.

The overall match came down to fifth singles. Yujiro Onuma was slated in fifth singles. He fell 7-5 in the first set but forced a third set with a 7-6 win in the middle set. Despite a back and forth third set, Onuma fell 6-4 to give UC Irvine the win.

The Big Green have two more matches on the west coast before returning to Hanover. On Sunday, Mar. 23 Dartmouth takes on UC Riverside before closing the trip against UC San Diego on Tuesday, Mar. 25.
