AUSTIN, Texas – Dartmouth baseball returned to UFCU Disch-Falk Field Saturday, looking for its first win of the season and to tie the series with the Texas Longhorns.

The Big Green did take the lead in the fourth inning and maintain a one run lead for two innings but runs in the sixth and seventh put the Longhorns on top and earned them the 3-2 victory.

Scoring started early Saturday, as both teams plated one run in their half of the first inning.
Axel Riess reached on an error to lead off the game before advancing to second on a wild pitch. With one out in the inning,
Elliot Krewson singled through the right side to bring Riess home, giving the Big Green a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, back-to-back singles and a walk loaded the bases with only one out and a wild pitch brough one run home, tying the game at one for the Longhorns.
Eddie Albert, who got the start on the mound for the Big Green, was able to get an out at home and a strikeout to stop the Longhorns from going ahead, keeping the game knotted at one headed into the second inning.

Neither team was able to muster another run until the fourth inning when Dartmouth took the lead. A single and hit by pitch put two runners on with no outs for
A.J. DeMastrie who bunted to advance the runners and force a pitching change.
Taer Rodriguez then hit into a fielder's choice but was able to score
Ethan Brown from third to give Dartmouth a 2-1 lead.

The Big Green held on to their one run lead into the sixth inning. Two hits, including an extra base hit, in the bottom half of the fifth inning, tied the game for the Longhorns.

Dartmouth went in order in the seventh, giving Texas an opportunity to pull ahead. Despite having no one on base ad two outs, the Longhorns once again knocked back-to-back hits, including a double to take a 3-2 lead on the Big Green.
In both the eighth and ninth innings, the Big Green had chances to pull even. Dartmouth had the bases loaded with two outs in the eighth and two runners on in the ninth, but Texas held on for the 3-2 victory.

Albert allowed one run on four hits in his four innings of work, dealing one walk while striking out five.

Bryce Loeger, who made his first appearance of his Big Green career, allowed two runs on four hits in four innings of relief. He also fanned three.

The Big Green and Longhorns will return to action tomorrow for the series finale.
Nate Isler will take the mound for the Big Green while Texas will throw Kade Bing.
