HANOVER, N.H.—The Dartmouth field hockey team fell 4-0 to No. 8 Princeton on Saturday afternoon at Chase Field.
Princeton opened the scoring just 58 seconds into the game with a tip off a penalty corner. The rest of the opening quarter did not see any more goals as shots were 5-0 in the quarter as Ava Carlson made three saves.
The second quarter started like the first quarter as Princeton scored just 28 seconds into the frame. The Tigers added their third goal with just over six minutes left in the quarter to take a 3-0 lead before halftime.
Carlson made three saves in the frame for the Big Green. Penalty corners were 1-1 in the second frame.
Shots were 10-2 at the halftime break while Carlson had six saves.
Princeton scored its fourth goal of the game at the 5:17 mark of the third quarter to take a 4-0 lead.
Dartmouth limited Princeton in the fourth quarter as the Tigers had just three shots while Carlson turned away the lone shot on goal.
Ruby Walsh had a pair of defensive saves while Florentina Terra also registered a defensive save.
First-Year Lilly Verezia tallied the lone shot on goal for the Big Green while Georgia Thornton, Olivia Galitios, and Lucia Campano each had a shot in the game.
Carlson made six saves on 10 shots on goal for the Big Green. This season she has a 2.62 goals against average with .660 save percentage on 35 shots.
The Big Green are back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 14 as Holy Cross travels to Hanover for a midweek non-conference matchup. The game is set to start at 3 PM at Chase Field.
