SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Despite falling behind 1-0, the Dartmouth women's hockey team cruised to a 4-1 victory at Union on Saturday. It was the first road win for the Big Green since Nov. 13 and stopped a four-game road losing streak. The win improved Dartmouth to 9-6-0 overall and 6-4-0 in the conference. The loss dropped Union to 1-18-3 overall and 0-8-2 in ECAC play.
Junior assistant captain Jenna Hobeika (Alpine, N.J.) led the Big Green with two goals scored. Her first goal tied the game a one just over four minutes into the second period, and her second goal was the team's fourth. Hobeika has five goals on the season.
Sophomore Sally Komarek (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored the game-winning goal to give the squad a 2-1 lead. Senior Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) assisted on the goal. Junior Kelly Foley (Boston, Mass.) recorded the Big Green's third goal. It was her seventh of the year.
The win was the 100th ECAC victory in the head coaching career of Dartmouth's Mark Hudak. He now has a career conference record of 100-47-14. Goaltender Whitney Woodcox (Oshawa, Ont.) made 14 saves in the win. Two of the team's four goals came on power play opportunities.
Dartmouth returns home on Friday, Jan. 14, when it hosts Clarkson at 7 p.m. at Thompson Arena.
