Boxscore
HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth junior Johnathan Ball (Memphis, Tenn.) scored a career-high 18 points, but it wasn't enough as Siena downed the Big Green, 83-69, in men's basketball action Wednesday night.
Ball had an impressive line, going seven-of-11 from the floor and four-of-five from the foul line. He added four rebounds and three assists against no turnovers in 24 minutes.
In the first half, Dartmouth's Jason Meyer (Covington, Ohio) had a three-pointer with 8:30 to play, giving the Big Green a 28-19 lead in the opening half.
But the Saints closed with a 13-4 run. The game was tied, 32-32, when Siena's Edwin Ubiles had a layup with a minute to go.
Early in the second half, Dartmouth rebuilt the lead to as much as five, including 43-38 on a DeVon Mosley (Mesquite, Texas) layin.
Siena retook the advantage in the back-and-forth contest, going ahead for good on another Ubiles bucket. That made it 50-48 with 12:51 to go.
A conventional three-point play by Dartmouth's Ball kept the Big Green within one, 62-61, at 7:32, but Siena pushed the lead back to 10 in the next three minutes.
Siena (1-2) was led by Michael Haddix with a career-high 28 points.
In addition to Ball, Dartmouth (0-4) had three other players in double figures. Mosley had a career-high with 16, while Meyer and sophomore Alex Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) both scored 11. Sophomore Jarrett Mathis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) pulled down a personal-best eight rebounds.
The Big Green is back in action on Saturday, traveling to Hartford for a 2 pm game.
