HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth's Haldeman Family Director of Athletics and Recreation, Mike Harrity, has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Oversight Committee, the NCAA announced.
The FCS Oversight Committee plays a critical role in guiding the administration and advancement of Division I FCS football. Its responsibilities include supervising the qualifications and selection procedures for the FCS Championship, reviewing recommendations from the NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee, and addressing broader issues related to the administration of the subdivision. Additionally, the committee provides direction to the NCAA Football Rules Committee on rules impacting both the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and the FCS.
"It's a privilege to serve on the FCS Oversight Committee and contribute to the future of college football at the national level," said Harrity. "Representing Dartmouth and the Ivy League, I'm committed to upholding the integrity of the game while ensuring our decisions support the growth, well-being, and academic success of student-athletes. Football has the power to transform lives, and this role provides an opportunity to help shape a model that reflects both competitive excellence and the educational values we stand for."
Harrity, who has served as Dartmouth's Haldeman Family Director of Athletics and Recreation since 2022, will join a national group of administrators, coaches, and conference representatives from institutions that sponsor football. The committee works in tandem with its counterpart, the FBS Oversight Committee, which supervises postseason bowl licensing and related governance.
Since arriving in Hanover, Harrity has led Dartmouth Athletics through a period of competitive growth and strategic investment, overseeing championship success across multiple programs, enhancing facilities such as the renovation of Thompson Arena, and advancing the department's commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes. Over the past 17 months, Dartmouth coaches have earned 12 coach-of-the-year honors. And in the most recent competitive year, the Big Green claimed five conference or national titles, including:
