Men's Tennis Competes at the ITA Regionals Hosted By Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Last Thursday, the Dartmouth men's tennis team traveled to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's New England Regionals hosted by Yale.
Day One
Adrian Treacy, Leo Pade, and Calvin Wang each opened the competition with wins. Pade won both of his matches in straight set fashion, defeating Boston's Payton Jim On 6-1, 6-4 and Fairfield's Alex Aguiar 6-1, 6-2.
Similarly, Wang won both of his opening day matches, defeating Stonehill's Benjamin Beaudry 6-1, 6-4 and Marist's Nicholas Suhanitski 6-1, 6-0. Treacy won his first match against Quinnipiac's Finn Burridge, 6-2, 6-4, but later fell to Brown's Elliot Wasserman.
In doubles play, Denny Bao and Kornel Halmos took on Niagara's Janiszewski/Bhawan for an 8-4 victory. Miles Groom and Henry Ren defeated Brown's Lan/Yang in an 8-0 clean sweep.
Day Two
Ren took home one of Dartmouth's two singles victories on Friday, besting Boston's Matthew Carioscia 6-1, 6-3. Groom began his match against Harvard's Kolos Kincses with a 6-4 victory, then fell 0-6. He was able to secure a win with a strong 6-1 final set.
Bao had a close match with Cornell's Sharma Aman, with both sets coming down to a tiebreaker. Aman eventually took the win with a 7-6(3), 7-6(4) result. Pade had a similar situation in his match against Harvard's Nathan Blokhin, losing in a tiebreaker 7-6(5), then falling 6-3. Halmos fought hard in his match against Dylan Tsoi of Yale, winning the first set 5-7, then falling 7-6(5), 6-3. Wang lost 6-4, 6-3 in his meeting with Brown's James Lian.
Bao and Halmos were able to bounce back for doubles play, defeating Marist's Catala/Suhanitski 8-6. Groom and Ren continued their success in an 8-0 shutout over Stonehill's Beaudry/Bennaton.
Day Three
The third day consisted of consolation matches, which included five victories for the Big Green.
Bao defeated James Macdonald of Harvard in a 6-3, 6-3 win. Pade picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over Marist's Jose Catala. Halmos continued to battle with Buffalo's Emiliano Jorquera, losing the first set before bouncing back in 6-1, 10-8 fashion.
Malhar Patel had his first victory of the week when he defeated Le Moyne's Luke Hoyland 6-2, 6-1. Treacy clinched the final singles win for Dartmouth when he bested Fairfield's Domagoj Stabek 6-2, 6-4.
In the main draw, Ren fell 6-2, 6-3 to Cornell's Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar 6-2, 6-3. Groom was defeated by Cornell's Felipe Pinzon 6-4, 6-4.
Doubles play wrapped in a close manner, with Ren and Groom falling to Bryant's Banquero/Machado in a tiebreaker 9-8(4). Bao and Halmos were defeated by Yale's Gogineni/Liao 8-6.
The Big Green will travel to Philadelphia to face Penn from Friday, Oct. 24, to Sunday, Oct. 26.
