HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's tennis had a good first day at its home invitational on Friday, going 6-2 in singles and 3-1 in doubles action.
The Dartmouth Invitational is an annual three-day event that takes place at the Boss Tennis Center. This year, it features Boston University, Brown, Bryant, Cornell, Harvard and Yale, giving the Big Green some valuable Ivy practice.
In doubles, junior
Casey Ross and sophomore
Sacha Pritzker had a 6-2 win over their opponents from Bryant, while senior
David Horneffer and sophomore
Pierce Widdecombe paired up to win their match against a duo from Brown, 6-3. Juniors
Peter Conklin and
John Speicher defeated players from Bryant by a score of 6-4.
Ross, Speicher and freshman
Alejandro Quiles all had quick, two-set victories over players from Bryant. Widdecombe added a 6-3, 6-2 win over Boston University's Jon-Kyle Tan, freshman
Anders Gibbons downed Brown's Matthew Mu, 6-0, 6-1, and Conklin defeated Andrew Heller of Yale, 7-5, 6-0.
Day two of the Dartmouth Invitational will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
