COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ? An eight-minute scoring drought in the opening half enabled the Air Force Academy to pull away from Dartmouth and post a 67-38 victory in the season opener Friday night for both men's basketball teams.
The Big Green and the Falcons were even, 10-10, on an Alex Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) jumper at 13:50, but Air Force kept Dartmouth off the board until 5:30. Junior DeVon Mosley (Mesquite, Texas) put down a 3-pointer, but Air Force held a 25-13 lead.
The Falcons led, 36-15, at halftime and play Northern Colorado on Saturday night in the championship game of the Air Force Classic. Dartmouth will take on VMI, who fell to Northern Colorado, 104-97.
For Dartmouth, Mosley was the high scorer with 10 points as the Big Green was held to 27.7 percent from the floor for the game. Senior Johnathan Ball (Memphis, Tenn.) was not expected to play because of an ankle injury, but came off the bench and provided a team-high four rebounds.
Barnett finished with eight points. The Big Green was plagued by turnovers, recording 18.
Air Force had four players in double figures, including Andrew Henke with a game-high 15.
