BURLINGTON, Vt. – Sophomore DeVon Mosley (Mesquite, Texas) scored a career-high 21 points, but it wasn't enough as the Dartmouth men's basketball team fell to Vermont, 73-62, on Thursday night.
The pesky Big Green trailed by only a point at halftime, 35-34, as Mosley scored 18 in the opening 20 minutes. He was a perfect seven-for-seven from the field during that stretch, including four 3-point baskets, as Dartmouth shot a blistering 60 percent.
With the loss, Dartmouth (3-7) had its three-game win streak snapped, going into the holiday break. Joe Trapani scoring 19 points, as the Catamounts improved to 6-5 on the year.
The game remained close at the start of the second half with Dartmouth taking a three point lead, 41-38, on a Mosley layup with 18:22 to go.
But UVM chipped away with 11-0 run. Trapani scored on a layin with 15:27 remaining to make it 49-41 and Dartmouth couldn't threaten the rest of the way. The Big Green shot 28 percent in the second half and finished the game at 44 percent.
Mosley also had a career-high seven rebounds to go along with three steals.
Senior Leon Pattman (Memphis, Tenn.) was in double figures with 12 points.
Dartmouth returns to action on Saturday, December 30 with a trip to Maryland-Eastern Shore.
