NORTHFORD, Conn. - The Dartmouth women's hockey team earned a tie for the second straight game, coming back in the third period against Quinnipiac to knot the game, 2-2. Freshman Maggie Kennedy scored the game-tying goal, her third tally in the past two games.
Junior Caroline Ethier (Matagami, Que.) opened the scoring just 2:08 into the first period to give the Big Green the lead, 1-0. Senior Alex Zagaria (Rochester, Minn.) earned the assist on the play.
The Bobcats answered late in the period, scoring at 19:05 to knot the game at one apiece. Quinnipiac (9-16-4, 3-11-3 ECACHL) used a goal late in the second frame to take the lead, 2-1, with just 14 seconds remaining before intermission. Kathryn Dallimore was credited with the goal. Dartmouth outshot the Bobcats, 26-14, through two periods, but couldn't get another into the net after forty minutes of play.
The Big Green re-tied the game, 2-2, at 5:54 of the third on a goal by Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn.), with the assist going to classmate Marley McMillan (St. Paul, Minn.).
Dartmouth settled for the tie after surviving a penalty in overtime for the second consecutive game. The Big Green went 0-for-8 with the power play, but Quinnipiac also went scoreless in four opportunities.
Freshman Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) made 22 saves to extend her personal unbeaten streak to four games (2-0-2).
Dartmouth (9-9-4, 6-6-3 ECACHL) returns to action tomorrow afternoon at Princeton. Gametime is set for 4 p.m.
