HANOVER, N.H. – Five members of the 2017-18 Dartmouth women’s rugby team will be competing at the Can-Am series in August.
Four will play for the United States as part of the Women’s Junior All-Americans, a group that consists of the best female rugby players under the age of 20 from across the country. Additionally, one member of the Big Green is representing Canada as a member of the U18 Team.
The Can-Am Series will be played in Ottawa on Aug. 1-7.
Rising-juniors Milla Anderson and Kat Ramage as well as rising-sophomore Becca Jane Rosko are joined on the American side by incoming freshman Lilly Durbin. The Canadian U-18 squad also features an incoming rookie as Idia Ihensekhien has been selected to wear the Maple Leaf on her uniform after being named to the team back in early May.
Also, Dartmouth head coach Katie Dowty has been named one of the Americans’ two assistant coaches, joining Kitt Ruiz on Wil Snape’s staff.
"We are very proud and excited to have such strong Dartmouth representation in this upcoming Can-Am series," Dowty said. "It is always a goal of ours to see players inspired and prepared to play at the highest level, so we are thrilled for them to be making an impact for both the USA and Canada!
"With the continued rise of NCAA rugby programs and everyday training environments, I believe this U-20 age group is poised to make big waves and continue raising standards for women’s rugby," the Big Green's coach remarked.
Broadcast information for the four matches at University of Ottawa will be announced by Rugby Canada closer to the Series, while admission will be free to the public.
