SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Dartmouth women’s rugby team saw its 2016 season come to an end Saturday afternoon with a 33-29 loss at American International in the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) Championship.
A back-and-forth game throughout ended with timely scoring by the Yellow Jackets (4-5) and allows them to advance to the NIRA Semifinals next weekend at West Point.
For the Big Green, the season ends with a 7-2 overall record and a loss in the national quarterfinals for the second straight year. Dartmouth was looking to go 2-0 against AIC this season after defeating the Yellow Jackets, 24-22, in the season opener back on Sept. 3, but was unable to find the points needed to pick up the victory on Saturday at Ronald J. Abdow Field.
