HANOVER, N.H. – The top-seeded Dartmouth women’s rugby team defeated Brown in the Ivy Semifinal, 45-14, at Brophy Field on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Big Green advance to the Ivy Championship next weekend at Harvard.
Isabel Boettcher, Kat Ramage and Frankie Sands all ended the day with double-digit points. Boettcher led the team with 12 points on two tries and a conversion, while Ramage had a try of her own and three converstions. Sands started the scoring with the first try of the afternoon and would go on to add another in the Big Green’s second win over Brown this fall.
Sands and Ramage combined for the first 21 points if the game. Sands had the first two tries, which were both converted by Ramage, while the latter converted her own try soon after to make it 21-0 in Dartmouth’s favor.
Ashli Cook scored prior to intermission, sending the home team to the locker room leading 28-0.
An early second-half try by Boettcher continued to build the Dartmouth advantage, but a Bears try and conversion made it a 33-7 match. No sooner had Brown scored did Dartmouth increase its lead with tries by Berit DeGrandpre and Boettcher.
Boettcher would notch her first conversion of the year to cap the Dartmouth scoring as Brown tacked on a late score and conversion to bring the final score to a 31-point difference.
The Ivy Final, which will be hosted by Harvard is set for Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m.
