CLEVELAND, Ohio — The National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) has announced its 2018 award winners on Tuesday with Dartmouth associate athletics director for compliance Jake Munick receiving The Rising Star Award, which recognizes young compliance professionals who are considered to be emerging leaders within the compliance profession.
A member of Dartmouth’s athletics department since April 2013, Munick was named associate athletics director last month. In this role, he oversees the compliance office, equipment room and the execution of equipment contracts.
Shortly after his hire, Munick was handed the responsibility for all aspects of the compliance office at Dartmouth and charged with educating, monitoring, reporting and overseeing all compliance-related activities associated with NCAA, Ivy League and institutional rules and regulations.
“Jake was thrown into the fire almost immediately and quickly demonstrated his affinity for the work,” said Harry Sheehy, the Dartmouth Director of Athletics and Recreation. “He doesn’t simply do the job, but works with all of our coaches and staff to ensure we are getting things done the right way, all with a positive attitude and a true passion for the work.”
Munick came to Dartmouth after earning a master’s degree in sport and recreation management at Temple University while also serving as the graduate assistant for compliance. Prior to his time at Temple, he graduated from Widener University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and was an accomplished track & field student-athlete, excelling in the hammer throw, obtaining multiple school and conference records.
