Juniors are leading their respective teams as Olivia Lantz led the way for women's cross country and Eduvie Ikoba leads the men's soccer team with 15 points. In two meets this fall, Lantz was the leading Big Green finisher. Classmate Ikoba has six goals and three assists for the men's soccer team.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Olivia Lantz, Jr., Manchester, Mass., Cross Country
Olivia Lantz led the Dartmouth women’s cross country team to a third-place showing at the highly anticipated and nationally prominent Penn State Nationals Friday morning. Lantz was 13th overall on the 6K course, running a 20:44 to finish as the Big Green’s top harrier. It was the second time this season Lantz has been the team’s top runner in a competitive meet, taking 10th at Boston College’s Coast-to-Coast race a few weeks back.
Eduvie Ikoba, Jr., Bettendorf, Iowa, F, Men's Soccer
Junior Eduvie Ikoba has been a key factor to the Dartmouth offense this season and continues to help his team each week. In the 4-0 win over Penn last Saturday, he scored two goals and contributed an assist, securing the win. Ikoba struck early in the fifth minute of play, scoring on a shot inside the box on a pass from freshman Dawson McCartney. That was the only goal of the first half as neither team scored again in the first period. The 6-4 junior rounded out the day's scoring with another tally in the 83rd minute.
