The, sounds like a law firm, duo of Martin and Mathis led the Big Green tennis teams to weekend sweeps with their outstanding play on the court. Freshman Dan Martin opened the weekend with the first singles point against Cornell and followed that up with the clinching win over Columbia on Sunday. Senior Kristina Mathis, playing her last match on Big Green courts, led the women's tennis team to a sweep of Cornell and Columbia as well.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Kristina Mathis, Sr., Greer, S.C., Women's Tennis

Kristina Mathis won both singles and doubles matches to help Dartmouth defeat both Cornell and Columbia by scores of 5-2 at home over the weekend. Mathis is currently ranked No. 115 in singles, appearing in the national rankings for the first time this season. On Saturday a 6-2 win by senior Mathis and sophomore Racquel Lyn at No. 2 put Dartmouth ahead going into singles. She followed that up with the clinching win at singles. The next day the Lions of Columbia came to town and were sent packing as Mathis swept her singles and doubles points to lead the Big Green to victory.

Dan Martin, Fr., Laval, Quebec, Men’s Tennis

Dartmouth men’s tennis defeated Cornell and Columbia over the weekend, taking down the Lions for the first time since 2013 and handing them their first home Ivy loss since 2011.  After trailing, 3-0, the No. 32 Dartmouth men’s tennis team won four straight singles matches to upset No. 15 Columbia, 4-3, at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center on Sunday. Martin clinched the win with his three-set victory over Jack Lin at No. 3 singles. To begin the weekend he started things off with his 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Daniel Grunberger at the No. 3 position to begin the scoring in a 4-2 win over the Big Red.
