ITHACA, N.Y. – The Dartmouth field hockey team saw its 2016 season come to an end Saturday afternoon with a 9-1 loss at Cornell’s Dodson Field.

The loss drops the Big Green to 4-13 overall and 0-7 in league play, their first winless campaign against Ivy League competition since 1990. The Big Red secured third place in the league standings as they capped the year with a 4-3 conference mark, while 10-7 overall.

A 5-1 game at halftime, Dartmouth got its lone goal from senior Joanne Nazareth, playing in her final game. Nazareth scored in the 33rd minute on a corner play as the first half wound down.

After freshman goalkeeper Emma Plumb played the first 52 minutes, making 13 saves and allowing seven goals, senior Paige Duffy came into the game for the first time this season. Duffy finished the contest in goal, making three saves in her final contest playing for the Green and White.

As for the home team, six players registered goals, including a pair from Krysten Mayers, Kjersti Anderson and Katy Weeks. The final goal of the came was Weeks’ second and came on a penalty corner after time had expired.

In the cage, Maddie Henry made five saves and allowed just the Nazareth goal in earning the win.

Cornell out-attempted their green counterparts, 42-11, and outshot Dartmouth, 26-6.
