HANOVER, N.H. – Head coach Amy Fowler has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2017 Dartmouth field season.
The slate features 17 total games with an even mix of eight home games, eight road contests and one neutral-site affair. Of the seven Ivy League games laid out ahead of the Big Green this fall, three will come at Chase AstroTurf Field with four on the road
Dartmouth will open the season on the road against the defending national champion as it takes on Delaware on Friday, Sept. 1 in a game played under the lights with a 7 p.m. start time. The Green and White follow that up with a neutral-site game against Longwood two days later in a contest also played at Delaware.
A 3 p.m. Saturday game against Rider on Sept. 9 marks the start of the home season with another against Bryant the following day set for Chase as well.
In addition to the No. 1 ranked Blue Hens, Dartmouth also has games against a pair of Ivy teams that finished in the top-20 in the final 2016 rankings. Princeton (14th) is the first Ancient Eight team on the schedule, coming to Hanover on Sept. 23, while Dartmouth goes to Harvard (15th) on Oct. 28 in the final road contest of the regular season.
“We're anxious to get the 2017 campaign underway,” Fowler said. “Our returners have made a lot of positive strides thus far in our spring training, which continues through the month of May. We will be adding 7 new faces to the roster for 2017, so we are still in a rebuilding phase as a program.
“We have a chance to set the tone for 2017 when we open up with last year's National Champion,” Fowler added. “In addition to Delaware, we will play two more top-20 finishers, who also competed in the NCAA Tournament. With nearly all of our returners gaining valuable experiences last season, we will look to build on that foundation, as we welcome our seven rookies to the team in August!”
