WORCESTER, Mass. – Dartmouth women’s rowing concluded its busy weekend at the 2018 Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond Sunday. The Big Green entered four boats, sending all of them to the Grand Finals. The day was highlighted by the third varsity placing first in the GF.
Dartmouth started off by taking first in the second heat of the second varsity (6:47.22), finishing less than two seconds ahead of Temple and advancing to the Grand Final. In the third varsity, the Big Green won with a time of 6:57.25, leaving over five seconds between them and Northeastern (7:02.51).
In the second of three heats of the varsity 4, Dartmouth won with its time of 7:32.81 and was followed by Boston College (7:36.01), Northeastern (7:37.46) and MIT (9:09.79). The Green took first in heat one of the varsity 8 (6:29.80), coming in ahead of Columbia (6:32.00) in second place.
In the GF of the second varsity, the Green completed the course in fourth place (6:51.06), coming in after Northeastern (6:48.06) and ahead of Columbia (6:53.17), while Radcliffe won the race with a time of 6:45.71. Dartmouth was first in the Grand Final of the third varsity (7:03.96), out-finishing Rutgers by over three seconds (7:07.02).
In the GF of the varsity 4, the Big Green place second (7:31.95), finishing behind Radcliffe (7:24.98) and a few seconds ahead of Drexel (7:33.73). It was a similar story in the Grand Final of the varsity 8; the Black and White won (6:27.71) and were followed closely by Dartmouth (6:31.20) and Rutgers (6:31.97).
The Big Green will close the season at the Ivy League Championship on Sunday, May 13.
