WORCESTER, Mass.  – Dartmouth women's rowing concluded its busy weekend on Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday, finishing in fourth place at the 2017 Sprints with 94 points. All six of the Big Green's boats made it to the Grand Finals.

“Riding on the heels of yesterday's racing in Ithaca, we took today's opportunity to hone our racing skills and build off each successive race,” head coach Linda Muri said. “Rowing hard allows us to figure out what to work on with each crew. All year, our focus has been toward May 14, so being able to power through three 2Ks in two days this weekend sets us up well for the heats and final format of the Ivy Championship in two weeks.”

First up, the Dartmouth third varsity placed second in heat two (7:03.28), finishing six seconds behind Radcliffe in first (6:56.95) and six seconds ahead of Bucknell (7:09.64). In the Grand Final, the Big Green placed fourth (7:34.58), leaving over 20 seconds between them and Rutgers in fifth (7:55.27).

Dartmouth's V4A qualified for the Grand Final by placing second in heat two (7:26.68), completing the event four seconds ahead of UConn (7:30.98). Racing again later that day, the Big Green took fifth in the GF with a time of 8:07.17, out finishing Boston College by four seconds (8:11.75).

In heat three of the second varsity, Dartmouth placed first (6:44.56), easily finishing ahead of Columbia in second (6:50.53). The Big Green went on to take fourth in the Grand Final with their time of 7:13.35, narrowly beating the BC Eagles (7:14.62).

Dartmouth had another good race in the varsity eight, finishing in second place in heat three (6:31.09), crossing the line just over a second behind Columbia in first (6:29.98). Taking to the water again in the Grand Final, the Big Green completed the race in fourth (6:59.11), besting Boston University by over eight seconds (7:07.75). Columbia barely edged Dartmouth and took third (6:57.37).

The Green rowed an 8:15.11 in the varsity 4B Grand Final, leaving over 11 seconds between them and UConn in fifth (8:26.40), while Dartmouth's varsity 4C took fifth in the GF with its time of 9:21.23.

Dartmouth will have two weeks to prepare for the 2017 Ivy League Championship, which will take place on Sunday, May 14.
