NEW YORK, N.Y. – The No. 10 Dartmouth men’s squash team opened up the 2018 slate with a loss to No. 4 Columbia on the road, 7-2 on Saturday afternoon.
First on the court was senior Jack Harvey, who managed to get one game off of his opponent, and while junior Sam Epley had the same result in his game, and junior Carson Spahr who fell 3-0. The second round was tough with freshman Toby Harding and sophomore Drew Monroe losing in three matches each, but senior Alvin Heumann playing in the No. 1 spot worked his way to a 3-2 victory.
In the final round, sophomore Brandon De Otaduy Nam lost in three matches and Matt Giegerich fought a long and hard match, with many tough calls, before losing in four. The Big Green managed to sneak one more win in, with freshman James Bell winning in a clinical 3-0 fashion to end the day.
The team was joined by many alumni and Friends of Dartmouth Squash before boarding the bus again and heading to Ithaca, New York to face Cornell tomorrow.
