HANOVER, N.H. – Hansi Wiens, Dartmouth head coach of both men’s and women’s squash teams, announced that Gary Gargan will join the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season.
Gargan comes to the Big Green by way of Boston, where he worked for six years as a Professional Squash Coach, finishing up as the Head Pro for Cross Courts Squash and Fitness in Natick, Massachusetts. Not one to sit still, he has spent many seasons coaching high school varsity teams including Dana Hall, Eagle Hill, and Needham High.
Over the last seven years, the Zimbabwe native has been active in the summer squash programs, working with teams at Dartmouth, Brown, Harvard, MIT and Yale.
Gargan graduated with honors in 2004 from the University of the West of England, with a degree in sports conditioning and coaching.
While he was growing up in Zimbabwe, Gargan lived one mile from squash courts, and his father had a heavy influence on him playing the sport. He played for the Junior National Team representing Zimbabwe on several occasions.
