PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Former Dartmouth men’s squash player and assistant coach, Chris Hanson ’13, won his first men’s national championship, winning the S.L. Green U.S. Men’s Championship at the Philadelphia Cricket Club on Saturday.
Hanson defeated Andrew Douglas in a four-game match that lasted sixty-two minutes. The Greenwich, Connecticut native won the title posting scores of 11-6, 6-11, 11-6, 11-7 in a triumphant return to the PSA Tour after missing portions of the 2016 season due to injuries.
Since the National Singles began in Philadelphia in 1907, no former members of the Big Green have ever won the men’s open singles title. Hanson also becomes the first Dartmouth player to win any open national title since Dick Remsen ’42 won the National Doubles with Germain Glidden in 1952.
