HANOVER, N.H. – The eighth-ranked Dartmouth men’s squash team defeated No. 20 Brown, 9-0 on Sunday evening at the Berry Squash Courts to conclude the regular season.
With the victory, the Big Green improve to 7-7, while the Bears fall to 3-9.
In the final match of their 2016-2017 campaign, the Big Green looked to finish their season strong against Brown. Junior Jack Harvey, sophomore Sam Epley, and freshman Brandon De Otaduy opened up play for Dartmouth in round one. Harvey and Epley both posted decisive victories by way of effective strategy and fantastic shot making. De Otaduy dropped the first two games to a strong opponent before refocusing and winning a five-game thriller.
Sophomores Carson Spahr and Matt Giegerich, along with senior co-captain Glen Brickman, led the Big Green in the second round of matches. Spahr and Giegerich both posted 3-0 victories, securing the overall match victory for Dartmouth. Brickman followed suit by winning in three games in his final match in front of the home crowd.
In the final round of matches, seniors Drew Field and co-captain Nick Harrington, along with junior Alvin Huemann, finished the match well for the Big Green. In their final match at the Berry Squash Courts, both Harrington and Field won in a convincing three games. Heumann capped Dartmouth’s strong performance with a business-like victory, finalizing the score line with a 9-0 Big Green win.
Dartmouth returns to the court on Feb. 24 for the CSA Men’s Team Championship in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
