NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The eighth-ranked Dartmouth men’s squash team fell to No. 9 Yale, 7-2 on Friday evening in New Haven, Connecticut.
The loss drops the Big Green to 6-7, while the Bulldogs improve to 8-5.
Dartmouth got off to a good start in the first round, with freshman Brandon De Otaduy running through his opponent in three games. Sophomore Sam Epley also got a victory in the first round, beating his opponent in a close five games. After losing the first game in extra points, Epley bounced back to take the next two in the same fashion. After dropping the fourth, Eply showed determination, winning the final frame. Junior Jack Harvey fell to his opponent in four games after an electric start with a win in game one.
Unfortunately, Dartmouth could not capitalize on its good start. In the second round, sophomore Carson Spahr, sophomore Matt Giegerich, and senior Glen Brickman all suffered losses. Spahr and Giegerich lost in three games, while Brickman battled his opponent to five games.
In the final round of matches junior Alvin Heumann fell in three games, junior Brian Giegerich lost his match in four games, and senior Nick Harrington suffered a five-game loss after gaining a two-game lead on his opponent.
