HANOVER, N.H. – The eighth-ranked Dartmouth men’s squash team fell to No. 1 Trinity, 9-0 at the Berry Squash Courts on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Big Green drop to 0-2, while the Bantam’s improve to 5-0.

In the first round of matches, sophomore Matt Giegerich started off slow, but found strong form in his second game, which he won. Giegerich fell in a hard fought fourth game after a decent showing in the third.

Brandon De Otaduy Nam played an electric first game, sending it to extra points but couldn’t close it out, losing 14-12. De Otaduy Nam narrowly lost game two, before falling in the third after a solid performance. Jack Harvey found himself in a second round match that went the distance to a fifth game. After dropping the first two games to his opponent, Harvey came back to win the next two. In the fifth game, Harvey managed to tied the score, 9-9 and force extra points before falling, 12-10.

In the third round, Carson Spahr got off to a fast start, taking the first game relatively easily, but his opponent fought back to take the second. Spahr continued to play aggressively but, allowed his opponent to take the third and fourth games with less resistance.

After a slow start in the first game, junior Alvin Heumann played an excellent second, building a 9-1, lead before his opponent pegged him back. The Southport, Connecticut native forced extra points, but could not close it out, as Heumann faded in the third, losing a quick game and the match.

Dartmouth returns to the court tomorrow when the Big Green host Navy at 4 p.m.
