PRINCETON, N.J. – Dartmouth men’s squash coach Hansi Wiens was named Ivy League Coach of the Year, as freshman Carson Spahr was named Rookie of the Year, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Spahr had a break out freshman year with the Big Green after the Milton, Massachusetts native won one match at the No. 1 position and five at the No. 2 position.
On Jan. 9, Spahr defeated Princeton’s Spencer Anton in four games to help propel Dartmouth to an 8-1 win over the Tigers. It was the Big Green’s first victory over Princeton since the Ivy League started play in 1956-57.
Sophomore Alvin Heumann was also honored with a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection after a solid 2015-16 campaign in Hanover. Heumann won seven matches at the No. 1 position for Dartmouth and went 6-4 in conference play.
Heumann becomes the first member of the Big Green to earn All-Ivy honors since Chris Hanson was given the accolade in 2013.
