The Big Green continues its winning ways with victories both at home and on the road. Freshman Katharine Ogden helped the ski team to a home carnival win for the first time in eight years. Sophomore Will Graber recorded a natural hat trick for the men's hockey team as they beat RPI on Friday.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Hanover Brick and Brew Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Katharine Ogden, Fr., Landgrove, Vt., Nordic Skiing
For the first time in eight years, Dartmouth won its home carnival, scoring 1,019 points to beat Vermont by 99. Freshman Katharine Ogden won the women’s 5K Freestyle, taking the gold on both days.
The predicted rain did not arrive until the day concluded, leaving the skiing conditions in excellent shape, even with the temperature nearing 40. Ogden had no trouble navigating the course at Oak Hill in the early afternoon, zipping through the race in 14:01.4 to win her second race in as many days, the first two of her collegiate career.
Will Graber, So., Broomfield, Colo., F, Men's Hockey
Graber had a great weekend on the road for the Big Green, tying with teammate Shane Sellar for the national lead in scoring during the seven-day stretch as both finished with six points. Graber recorded the program’s first natural hat trick in 15 years and just the second dating back to 1980 when he scored three straight goals Friday against RPI. He would go on to add two more assists against the Engineers and another the following night at Union for a six-point weekend. For his efforts, he was also named the NCAA’s Third Star of the Week.
