Throughout the summer, DartmouthSports.com will be focusing on members of the Class of 2019 who are currently in their "Sophomore Summers."
This installment features Kevan Kilistoff of the men’s hockey team. Coming to Hanover from Langley, British Columbia, Kilistoff has established himself as a leader in just his first two seasons with the Big Green. A valuable two-way player, he led the team in faceoff wins as a sophomore with 248 and was used in crucial situations to when the team needed a draw win. He reached double digits in points during the 2016-17 season with a pair of goals and eight assists. His most notable contribution during his first two seasons was scoring the game-winning and series-clinching goal against No. 7 Yale in the 2016 ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals, helping the Green to a sweep of the Bulldogs and a berth in the conference semifinals in Lake Placid for the first time in five years.
DartmouthSports.com: What have you been doing during your sophomore summer?
Kevan Kilistoff: I’m currently going to class and working out five days a week, while working at Alumni Gym three days a week in the Athletics Communications office.
DS: What was it in the recruiting process that sold you on Dartmouth?
KK: I wasn't completely sold on Dartmouth until I had my official visit with my fellow classmates and loved it.
DS: If you could play another sport at Dartmouth, what would it be and why?
KK: I'd probably play on the baseball team. I played intramural softball with a bunch of the guys on the team this past spring and had a blast.
DS: What has been your best on-ice memory thus far in your Dartmouth career?
KK: Definitely beating Colgate in the playoffs at home my freshman year in double overtime of Game 3.
DS: What’s the app you use most on your phone?
KK: Instagram. I'm a big explore feed guy.
DS: Do you have a nickname on your team? Who gave it to you and why?
KK: I already had the nickname ‘Killer’ before coming to Dartmouth which, the guys use quite often, but I have also received the nickname "Kilits" since being at Dartmouth. I think Charlie Michalowski started it this past year, but I'm not sure.
DS: What show do you binge watch?
KK: ‘The Office.’ Big Michael Scott fan.
DS: You step outside tomorrow morning and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million (after taxes). What would you do with the money?
KK: First, I'd pay my tuition and pay back my parents. Then I'd treat myself a bit, and then save and invest the rest.
