HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men’s hockey team will play the first round of the 2017 ECAC Hockey Championship at Yale’s Ingalls Rink this weekend.
The Big Green (7-13-2) finished ninth in the league standings with 16 points, two back of the eighth-seeded Bulldogs (7-11-4). Yale has the edge based on two more ties, but more importantly based on two shutout wins at Dartmouth’s expense.
The Bulldogs won the January game in Hanover, 7-0, and then took the game at Ingalls in New Haven last weekend, 4-0.
This marks the second year in a row that these two teams will meet in the postseason after the Green swept the Elis in last season’s quarterfinals. Connor Yau scored the Game 1 (4-3) winner 17:14 into overtime on Friday night before netminder Charles Grant stood on his head to make 46 saves in an incredible Game 2 (2-1) performance to cap the sweep.
Games 1 and 2 on Friday and Saturday will be played at 7 p.m. If necessary, puck drop for Sunday’s Game 3 will also be 7 p.m.
Fans can watch the action via the ECAC Hockey’s postseason streaming service. Adam Giardino will also be in New Haven, broadcasting the games on 94.5 ESPN.
