NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the second time this season, the Dartmouth men’s hockey team was unable to solve the goaltending of Yale.

The Big Green (10-14-3, 7-11-2 ECAC Hockey) were dealt a 4-0 defeat in the regular season road finale as the Bulldogs (11-11-5, 7-9-4 ECAC) picked up the win on Senior Night at Ingalls Rink.

Yale sweeps the season series after a 7-0 win in Hanover in January.

Junior goaltender Devin Buffalo made 31 saves in the loss, allowing two in the first and one in the second before the Bulldogs hit the empty net in the final minute.

Yale sophomore netminder Sam Tucker posted 26 saves in the shutout, joining teammate Patrick Spano in accomplishing the feat against the Green this season.

“They (Yale) played really well,” head coach Bob Gaudet ’81 said. “We were looking for a break tonight that just never came. We know that we have to make our own breaks, but Yale did a good job of limiting us tonight.”

The Elis got first-period scores from JM Piotrowski and Ted Hart and followed up with John Hayden’s 18th of the year with just 1:28 remaining in the second. Andrew Gaus sealed it with an empty netter with just 43 seconds to play.

“I thought we battled all night,” Gaudet added. “We would’ve liked to have come away from this weekend with four points, but we came away with two and that’s the way it is. We want to play at home in the playoffs, so we have to be better next weekend and we will.”

The Big Green close out the regular season at home next weekend, taking on St. Lawrence Friday before the finale the following night against Clarkson. Both games are set for 7:05 p.m. puck drops.
