ETNHA, N.H. – The Dartmouth equestrian team placed first at the final competition of the fall season Saturday at their home facility of Morton Farm.

It marked the team’s fourth consecutive first-place finish, building their regional lead to 28 points in the process.

A field of 11 schools competed, with Vermont taking second place and New Hampshire claiming third, respectively.

Captains Olivia Champ and Claire Bick both had beautiful rides. Champ placed first in Open Fences, Open Flat, and the high-point ride off. This performance qualified her for Regionals in Open Fences, and puts her far in the lead in the Cacchione Cup standings for the region, which tracks the top open-level riders throughout the season.

Bick finished third in Intermediate Fences and second in Open Flat, qualifying her for regionals in Open Flat.

Lilly Higgins, Sue Mohieldin, Meghan Poth and senior Nathalie Ferneau also had strong performances. Higgins earned third in Open Fences, and first in open flat, just edging out teammate Bick. Mohieldin finished first in Novice Flat. Poth and Ferneau both earned second place in Intermediate Flat and Novice Fences, respectively.

However, it was the rookies who really stole the show on Saturday. Freshmen Sophia Kocher and Mahalia Dalmage continued their undefeated streak with first place finishes in Walk-Trot-Canter and Novice Flat, respectively. Freshman Teaghan Callaway snagged second place in Walk-Trot-Canter, and in just the second competitions of their collegiate careers, Anna Dodson and Margot Putnam shined in Walk-Trot, sealing the win for Dartmouth. Dodson earned first place, and Putnam earned second.
