NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Dartmouth equestrian team competed alongside nine other schools Sunday at Colby Sawyer, taking home first place for the third straight competition.
Vermont finished second, allowing Dartmouth to pull 20 points ahead in regional point standings.
As usual, captain Olivia Champ rode beautifully, finishing first in Open Fences and third in Open Flat. An impressive ride-off with no stirrups at the end of the day earned her the title of Reserve High-Point Rider.
Sophomore Meghan Poth put in an impressive ride in Novice Flat, taking first place, qualifying her for Regionals and moved her up into Intermediate Flat. Senior Elle MacAlpine also showed well in Novice Flat, earning her third-consecutive second-place finish.
Sophia Kocher and Alex Chen closed out the day with excellent wins at the end of the day, securing the win for the Big Green. Kocher finished first for the fourth time in a row in Walk-Trot-Canter, while Chen finished second in Walk-Trot.
After two wins this weekend, Dartmouth will look to continue its winning ways in the last show of its fall season Saturday at home.
