VERMONT —The Dartmouth equestrian team traveled to Middlebury College on Saturday for the first show of the season before riding at Vermont on Sunday.

At Middlebury, the team tied for Reserve Champion, second to Endicott College, who were the high-point team of the day.

Freshman Sophie Lenihan started her collegiate career by winning her Open Fences class. Classmate Lilly Higgins placed second in the same class with sophomore Olivia Champ claiming third.

Junior and team captain Claire Bick was second in her Intermediate Flat class, earning points for the team. Senior Margaret Rauner rode to victory in her Novice Flat, which also qualifies her for the Intermediate Flat division for the rest of the season.

Senior Charlotte Johnstone won her Walk/Trot section, cinching the Reserve Champion placing for the team.

Sophie Lenihan ended the day on a high note, placing second in her Open Flat class to gain a spot in the Reserve High Point ride-off, in which she beat out the competition to win the title.

In Sunday’s show at UVM, the team tied for Reserve Champion with New Hampshire, second only to the home team.

In the second show, Bick won her Intermediate Flat class, earning points for both herself and the team. Sophomore Sophie King also won her Advanced Walk Trot Canter class.

New team member Sue Mohieldin competed in and won her very first IHSA, taking home a well-earned blue ribbon.

Johnstone came in second in her final Walk Trot class. She has now classed up to Beginner Walk Trot Canter.
