HANOVER, N.H. – Two Dartmouth rowers were recently announced as members of the Under 23 Team that will compete at the 2016 World Rowing Senior, Under 23 and Junior Championships in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, from Aug. 21-28.

Walter Banfield, a rising senior on the lightweight team, will be racing the lightweight single, while recent graduate Bobby Moffitt is in the heavyweight 8.

In addition to those two student-athletes representing Dartmouth, heavyweight head coach Wyatt Allen was selected to coach the U-23 team.

The 84-person roster includes athletes from 21 states, as well as England and France. Twenty-six universities are represented, including all eight Ivy League schools.

Banfield was a staple at the four seat in the varsity 8 all season. His boat defeated MIT and finished less than two seconds behind Harvard in the Biglin Bowl, and went on to take second in the Petite Final at the Eastern Sprints Regatta.

This past season, Moffitt rowed in the varsity 8 for every race, helping his boat place fifth in the Petite Final at the Eastern Sprints Regatta before placing second in the third final at the IRA Regatta. At the conclusion of the year, he received the Thaddeus Seymour Rowing Award for making the greatest contribution to rowing at Dartmouth.
