PRINCETON, N.J. – Saturday morning the Dartmouth lightweight rowing team competed in its first regatta of the season at Princeton, facing Delaware and Temple as well.

With gusty winds on Lake Carnegie, the Big Green entered three boats in their respective events, facing one of the nation’s best teams in the Tigers and another top-10 team in Delaware. Temple only competed in the varsity eight race, while Dartmouth participated in the first, second and third varsity races.

The Big Green finished second in the first varsity (6:33.9), coxed by Kiana Outen and stroked by Robbie Van Voorhis, as Princeton (6:19.7) defended its home course sweeping all four events of the regatta. Delaware trailed the green and white boat by five seconds (6:38.6) as the Owls came in last (6:58.0)

Dartmouth came in third in the second varsity (6:39.0) behind Delaware (6:24.0) and the host team (6:18.9). The Tigers (6:42.2) were well prepared for the conditions on the lake and finished the third varsity well ahead of Delaware (6:58.9) and the Big Green (7:02.1).

Saturday’s outing was the first action Dartmouth has seen since November, and the team will return to the water next weekend in the Biglin Bowl facing Harvard and MIT on Saturday, with a newly-scheduled race against Mercyhurst on Sunday in Hanover.
